Interpretation of the Design

Banner featuring iconography of Iran.

I designed my flag to highlight some important Iranian cultural symbols and traditions. The blue pattern at the top of the flag is inspired by Persian tilework found in historical buildings and handcrafted enamel dishes. The colour blue symbolizes peace and spirituality in Persian art.

A young woman dressed in traditional Luri-Bakhtiari clothing is dancing joyfully. Her face is framed by dome-shaped braids and painted in the style of Persian miniature art.

The pomegranate is native to Iran and is used in many cultural ceremonies such as Yalda – the longest night of the year. It symbolizes life, unity, and celebration. Its vibrant red colour is often represented in Persian carpets, which can be found in many Iranian homes.
