Storytime

10am and 11am every Wednesday and Friday during school terms

Stories, songs, rhymes, and crafts - Storytime sparks imagination for ages 3–5!

Storytime is a welcoming program for preschoolers to enjoy stories, songs, rhymes, and creative activities together.

Families gather to listen and laugh with engaging picture books and sing along to favorite rhymes and songs that support early language development.

Each session also includes a simple craft activity, giving children the chance to explore their creativity and practice fine motor skills. With interactive storytelling, songs and rhymes, and hands‑on fun, Storytime is a gentle introduction to the magic of books and a wonderful way for children aged 3–5 and their caregivers to share the joy of reading and learning together.

Frequently Asked Questions

Tickets

You can book tickets via our What’s On page, through the Wagga City Library App, or over the phone on 02 6926 9700.

These programs work best when attendance numbers are balanced, creating an environment where all participants can fully engage and benefit from the session.

Baby Bounce, Toddler Time and Storytime allow you to book ahead one week in advance. When you book ahead, you’re telling us how many craft supplies we’ll need, and how much space we’ll need to put aside. You’re also helping every other child and grown-up in that session to have a stimulating and fun morning.

Yes, but becoming a member is easy! Just complete the online registration form and present your ID to staff when you visit the library to activate your membership.

About the session

Sessions go for about 30-40 mins. There is plenty of time and space afterwards to stretch, mingle, have a snack, browse books, talk about memberships, and join the library.

We completely understand, please cancel your tickets through the app, the website, or phone us if you prefer, and we’ll make sure your tickets become available for someone else.

Which session is right for me?

Each program is designed for a specific developmental stage:

  • Baby Bounce (0–12 months): With gentle bounces, playful songs, and engaging activities, these sessions help babies experience rhythm, sound, and movement in a fun and supportive environment.  Activities include songs, rhymes, and lap play suited to infants who are not yet walking.
  • Toddler Time (1–3 years): A more active and interactive session designed for busy toddlers. It includes songs, stories, movement activities, and early learning experiences that support language development, coordination, and social skills.
  • Storytime (3–5 years): A structured session for preschool‑aged children, featuring longer stories, group participation, early literacy activities, and a themed craft designed to build fine motor skills and school readiness.

If your child starts with Baby Bounce, moves on to Toddler Time, and then Storytime, they’ll find the transition between each program smooth and easy – they'll know the routine, the actions, the songs, and they’ll probably know other kids and our staff, too.

Yes, you are welcome to attend more than one program. We encourage carers to choose programs that best match the age of children in their care.  We understand that children don’t always fit neatly into specific age groups within a family.

If bringing older siblings to Baby Bounce we advise bringing an additional support adult.

Of course! If you’re bringing extra people who won’t be joining the program, there’s no need to book a place for them.  The rest of the Children’s Area remains open during our programs, so others in your group can still enjoy the library while you are in the session.

If bringing older siblings to Baby Bounce we advise bringing an additional support adult.

If the extra people will be participating in the program, just remember to reserve additional tickets for them.

Yes! Parents play a key role in the success of our programs. Children take their cues from their grown-ups. Singing along and focusing on the session with your child encourages them to do the same.

This interaction creates a positive and enriching experience for everyone involved. Of course, we understand that parents also value the chance to connect with each other, so we always make sure there’s plenty of time to chat together after each session.
