Nicole Alexander - The Limestone Road

On Thursday May 29th, Wagga Library hosted author Nicole Alexander, in conversation with the library's Peter Casey, to talk about her latest novel The Limestone Road.

The Limestone Road tells the story of father and son Michael and Canning Christie, both veterans of WWII's North Africa campaign, and the challenges they face upon returning to life as farmers in South Australia.

Nicole told her audience all about the thorough research she had to undertake into wine-making methods of the early 1940s, and how extraordinarily tight-lipped wine-making families can be about their trade secrets. She also detailed the experiences of returned Australian soldiers with government bureaucracy, settler blocks, and Italian POWs, all of which feature extensively in the novel.

Nicole read an excerpt from her opening chapter, and audience members stayed afterwards to chat, and to have their copies of The Limestone Road signed. As we always do with visiting authors, Wagga Library has purchased several copies of The Limestone Road for you to borrow. Reserve yours here.
