Music in the Regions Comes to Tarcutta

Music in the Regions finished its regional NSW tour with a performance by the Acacia Quartet with International Guests, in the Tarcutta Memorial Hall, on the afternoon of Sunday, April 29th.

The quartet's usual four members (Lisa Stewart, violin; Doreen Cumming, violin; Stefan Duwe, viola; and Anna Martin-Scrase, cello) were augmented into a sextet by the addition of violist Emile Cantor and cellist Laurentiu Sbarcea. They performed two well-known and beloved string sextets, Dvorak’s Op. 48 and Brahms’ Op. 36, as well as a new work from Australian composer Lyle Chan.

The Tarcutta Memorial Hall, originally opened in 1928, received an upgrade in 2023, following the effects on the Tarcutta community of the 2019 and 2020 bushfires, courtesy of the Federal Government’s Black Summer Bushfire Recovery Grants Program.

While the library does not have a physical music collection, your eLibrary membership gives you free access to the Hoopla app, where you can stream music (including the Dvorak and Brahms sextets mentioned above), watch movies, and read/listen to books.
