Last week, after more than 380 votes were submitted, the library's new robocats were given their official names! Our list of possible feline epithets was entirely derived from books, with options like Narnia's Aslan, Beatrix Potter's Tabitha, and even Church, from Stephen King's Pet Sematary.
There could only be five winners, though, and they were Buttercup, Jiji, Waffles, Bob and, of course, Scarface Claw.
Robocats, which respond with purring and movement to sound, cuddles and visual cues, are great for library patrons, young and old, who may experience anxiety, sensory issues, or even feel intimidated simply entering a busy library.
You can borrow any of our five cats to keep you company within the library for up to two hours, using your library card. Just talk to staff if you want to join - it's FREE, and all you need is some ID with your Wagga LGA address.
