On Saturday June 13, Wagga library was delighted to host the launch of a brand-new work of children's fiction, The Stolen Bairn, by local author Katrina Macdonald Roe.
Katrina appeared in conversation with fellow author Gabrielle Tozer, and the two spoke about the inspiration for Katrina's novel in particular, and the writing process in general.
The Stolen Bairn is about twelve-year-old Katie Skea, stolen by faeries as a baby and won back by her mother’s courage. Years later on the Isle of Skye, when her new sister is mysteriously injured, Katie fears the faery world is calling her back—and the only way to save her family is to face the world she barely remembers. Across Skye, Katie uncovers a fading faery kingdom, a boy trapped by nightly enchantments, and the truth about her own faery heritage.
Special guests at Katrina's launch included fairies and highland dancers, and Katrina herself participated in a musical performance.
Afterwards, Katrina met attendees and signed copies of her book, with the help of Collins Booksellers, and their ongoing support for local authors and local readers.
