On October 27, 2025, the library hosted author Chris Hammer for the launch of his latest novel, Legacy. This event was first announced in July, and bookings ran hot all the way up to the night itself. We had to work together with our friends at the Wagga Art Gallery to find a space large enough to hold more than 120 people.
Legacy is the latest of Chris's novels in the Martin Scarsden series, which began with Scrublands in 2018. In it, Martin flees to the desert town of Part Paroo, after an explosive attempt on his life.
Chris appeared in conversation with the library's own Peter Casey, and over the course of their chat, he recommended other authors whose work he admired (including Peter Temple and Benjamin Stevenson) and sang the praises of the talented writers, directors and producers who create the screen adaptations of his novels.
