A Wicked Premiere, Thanks to the Friends of the Library

The evening of Thursday November 20th, 2025, saw Wagga's premiere screening of Wicked: For Good, the much-anticipated sequel to 2024's hit film, Wicked. This fundraising event was hosted by the Friends of the Wagga Wagga City Library.

Wicked may be based on a 1995 novel by Gregory Maguire, but it's the Broadway musical adaptation of 2004 that dwells in many a fan's heart, and devotees turned out in large numbers to see the second part of its movie version.

If you're unfamiliar with all of these layers of meta and intertextuality, you might start with where it all began: L. Frank Baum's The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, and its famous 1939 movie adaptation.

The Friends of the Library, who have advocated for the library for more than thirty years, while promoting and supporting its programs, were delighted to raise close to $800.
