A Darker Shade of Moonlite

On the evening of Thursday March 21st, a crowd of enthusiasts, many of them well-versed in local bushranger history, gathered at the library to hear author Craig Cormick speak about his "creative biography" of Andrew George Scott aka Captain Moonlite.

Craig covered the many different versions of Scott's life and exploits, including several contradictory tales told by Scott himself. Attendees were asked to don masks of Ned Kelly and Scott, and vie for supremacy as Australia's greatest bushranger. In honour of the evening's subject, Moonlite won by a whisker.

The controversies and theories surrounding Moonlite's famous siege at Wantabadgery were covered in depth, and the posthumous reunion of Scott's remains with those of his beloved companion James Nesbitt brought the presentation to a reflective end.
