Darryl Jones: Getting to Know the Birds in Your Neighbourhood

We last hosted academic, author, and former Wagga local Darryl Jones in 2022, with his publication Curlews on Vulture Street. His latest work, Getting to Know the Birds in Your Neighbourhood, is the first complete beginners’ field guide to the birds most commonly encountered in the towns and cities of Australia.

On Tuesday Nov 21st, Darryl appeared in conversation with the library's own Leila Davandeh, and explained that his book is much more than an identification tool: it opens the door to understanding the habits and behaviours of your suburb’s feathered locals.

Darryl took many questions from the assembled audience, and answered them with comprehensive knowledge and good humour.

You can reserve your copy of Darryl's book here.

The cover of Darryl's book shows in close-up the magnificent red plumage and crest, along with the typically curved parrot's beak, of a Gang-gang cockatoo.
